Clermont
The City of Clermont, which occupies 14.44 square miles or 9,245.1 acres, was founded in 1884 and incorporated in 1916. Clermont is located in Lake County, west of Orlando, and is conveniently accessible to Orlando via Florida Highway 50.
The City is essentially residential in character and its economy is primarily centered around the tourist industry with supporting retail trade. The historic downtown district is still much as it was 50 years ago. Clermont is noted for its orange groves and natural hills. Much of the orange groves were converted into subdivisions in the early to mid 2000s.
