South Florida
South Florida is a very diverse community with much of the population coming from all over Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe, Canada, and Asia. It includes a widely diverse area from quiet, unpopulated central areas with “Old Florida” feel to vibrant resort cities.
Miami is a world-famous vacation destination blessed with year-round mild climates and fantastic beaches that attracts everyone from ordinary folks to the glitzy and glamourous people. The ethnic neighborhoods of Little Havana and Little Haiti make the city even more charming. Miami offers many top sporting activities including top golf and tennis as well as water sports.
The city’s Port of Miami is known for accommodating the largest volume of cruise ships in the world and is home to many cruise line headquarters.
South Beach bisects Miami’s famed art deco district and is the quintenssential Miami hot spot, especially at nightime. From shopping to partying, this area of Miami Beach is well-known for being a trendy locale.
Fort Lauderdale has transformed itself into a thriving pleasure port, catering to individual yacht-owners and major cruise liners alike. It’s also one of the fastest-growing residential areas in the country.
The southern tip of Florida mostly consists of tropical jungle and swamplands. Everglades National Park covers nearly the entire tip of the peninsula southward from Miami and Naples. It contains a vast ocean of wet grasslands punctuated by islands of tropical forest and stretches of open waters. This vast wetland is infested with hordes of insects, wild birds, alligators, snakes and other wildlife.
